Newton is technically a city, but its thirteen informal villages, give it a walkable, small-town feel. Each village—Auburndale, Chestnut Hill, Newton Centre, Newton Corner, Newtown Highlands, Newton Lower Falls, Newton Upper Falls, Newtonville, Nonantum, Oak Hill, Thompsonville, Waban, and West Newton—has its own personality and many have their own downtown. You’ll find grand Victorians on West Newton Hill, brick Tudors in Newton Centre, charming little homes in Waban, and a vibrant scene in West Newton Square. Across Newton, you’ll find desirable amenities including a top-tier hospital, highly ranked public schools, charming local businesses, and trendy restaurants. Newton is home to a number of private K-12 schools including Fessenden School, Newton Country Day, and Solomon Schechter Day School. Boston College, Hebrew College, Lasell College, and William James College are also located in Newton. The 7-mile commute to Boston is convenient, whether you choose to drive, bus, or take public transit from one of the several stops in the city.
